Next week we’ll have a bit of Doctor Who, while we wait for Series 7. The mini-episode will be written by the winner’s of the Script to Screen competition:

British children’s magazine show Blue Peter will exclusively air the episode, written by the winners of this year’s Script to Screen competition. The contest was launched back in January by Karen Gillan, and the winning entry was submitted by “three Blue Peter viewers.” The as-yet untitled episode will début during next week’s edition of the show in Britian, on BBC One at 5:45 p.m., May 24. No official broadcast date has been set by BBC America.

As soon as the episode goes to Youtube, I’ll make sure to post it here so everyone can watch it!

Matt Smith joins Disney poetry show

By in May 16, 2012 • Filed in: Articles, Others, Projects

The 29-year-old will perform one of the readings on A Poem Is, a “short-form” series that twins celebrity poetry recitals with classic Disney animation.

Smith will read Once They All Believed in Dragons by Jack Prelutsky, the first US Children’s Poet Laureate.

The actor, who is currently filming his third Doctor Who series, said he had “always had an enthusiasm for poetry”.

“It is so vital to my art to have an understanding and appreciation for classic literature,” he went on.

According to the actor, A Poem Is offers “a whole new generation of young minds a way of learning and sharing poetry”.

“The fact that it’s set to some of the most iconic Disney animations just makes the whole experience so enjoyable.”

Actor Richard Briers, comedian David Walliams and Downton Abbey actress Michelle Dockery will also lend their voices to the show, which begins on 30 April on the Disney Junior UK cable channel.

Jennifer Garner, Whoopi Goldberg, Kenneth Branagh and Owen Wilson are among the performers who have contributed to previous editions.

Series 7 to premiere at 2012 Edinburgh Television Festival

By in May 11, 2012 • Filed in: Doctor Who, Projects, Season 7, TV Shows

Just like last year, when Let’s Kill Hitler first aired on the festival, the first episode of Series 7 of Doctor Who will be aired on the 2012 Edinburh Television Festival:

The BBC has yet to confirm when the new series of the cult sci-fi drama will hit our screens, though it is likely to follow the festival in the autumn.
Doctor Who co-creator Steven Moffat will attend the annual event, appearing on a ‘Masterclass’ panel for his other series Sherlock, alongside the show’s other writers Mark Gatiss and Sue Vertue.
The Doctor’s sidekicks Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) are set to leave the show midway through the next series, and Moffat promises there will not be a dry eye in the house.
He also revealed that he considers the companions to in fact be the central characters of the series, saying: ‘The story of Doctor Who is always the story of the companion, it’s always their story.
‘It was Rose Tyler’s story, it’s Amy Pond’s story – the story of the time they knew the Doctor and how that began; how it developed and how it ended.’

Filming Doctor Who in Central Park

As the end draws near for two of the most popular characters in Doctor Who, the cast and crew assembled in New York to begin filming their final scenes.

Karen Gillan, who plays Amy Pond, and Arthur Darvill, who plays Rory Williams, were seen in Central Park today running through their lines and sharing a kiss for what may be their last intimate moment as Doctor Who’s companions. Leading actor Matt Smith, who plays the 11th incarnation of the Doctor, said last week that the departure of Amy Pond and Rory Williams would be ‘incredible’, and that looks to be exactly the case.

For us fans, we call this the “Fishfingers and custards day” – because of what the Doctor ate with young Amy when they first met.

So, happy fishfingers and custards day for all our visitors!
